Philipps-Universität Marburg

Philipps-Universität Marburg is a research-oriented university with approximate 27.000 students in 16 faculties and centres; more than 10% of the students are international, of which about 30% are from Asia and 22% from the Near and Middle East.

Philipps-Universität has implemented strong structures for internationalization on all levels of the university. In 2011, the Department for International Affairs was established; in 2012, a Steering Committee on Internationalization was appointed to coordinate activities on central and faculty level. The Committee formulated recommendations for Internationalization that have been approved by the President’s office in 2015. The Internationalization strategy was published in 2012, the ECHE for Erasmus+ was granted in 2014. Philipps-Universität Marburg entered the Audit (2012-2014) and Re-Audit (2015-2019), Internationalization of Universities“ by the German Rectors‘ Conference to evaluate the implementation of the recommendations of the HRK. Thus, Philipps-Universität Marburg has a strong focus on the development and implementation of internationalization in HEIs.
