The University of Latvia with more than 15.000 students, 13 faculties offering more than 134 programmes and more than 20 research institutes is one of the largest comprehensive research universities in the Baltic States with educational and research potential in humanities, social and natural/life sciences.
The only higher education institution from Latvia ranked in the QS Top Universities ranking. The University of Latvia is especially proud that its degree of internationalization has been recognized as high in several rankings, such as QS Top Universities, Multirank, Interfax ranking. The University of Latvia pays great attention to the development of international collaboration and supports different schemes of mobility.
The University of Latvia has been always active in international collaboration. Nowadays the objective is to focus on the content and quality in order to make internationalization a balanced element of education and research. The University of Latvia strategy is to introduce innovative methods in education, to pay more attention to the development of staff competencies, to improve all services, incl. international students, the number of which is constantly growing. The ERASMUS+ projects help much the UL to achieve these strategic goals.
